Palermo defender Matias Silvestre has joined Inter Milan on loan with a view to a permanent deal worth up to €8 million.
The clubs had been in talks over a full-time transfer this summer, but Palermo revealed that centre-back Silvestre has not yet moved permanently.
The arrangement gives Inter the opportunity to make the move permanent next summer and, if they choose to do so, they would pay the fee in four yearly installments.
A Palermo statement said: "Palermo announces it has loaned Matias Silvestre to Inter. The defender joins the Milan club on loan with a buy-out option."
Silvestre, who is under contract with the Sicilian club until June 2015, scored five goals in 29 league games last season.
