From ESPN – News update from Serie A
Corinthians defender Leandro Castan has confirmed that he is close to making a switch to Roma, following Copa Libertadores glory on Wednesday night.
Leandro Castan, 25, was a central figure in Corinthians' maiden continental success, as part of a defence that conceded just four times across the entire tournament, attracting the attention of Serie A side Roma.
There has been several weeks of speculation linking the centre-back with a switch to the Stadio Olimpico and now, with the Libertadores complete, Castan has confirmed his impending exit.
"Everything is settled with Roma," Castan told Radio Bandeirantes. "It is a great offer. I leave Corinthians with the feeling that I did a good job.
"I spoke a lot with my family before making a decision. I am 25 years old and I am at a good moment in my career."
The Corinthians player will join former team-mate Dodo in Italy, with the young left-back also having joined Roma just last week.
